Fisherman’s Sunrise Saison - Gloucester MA - 6.5%ABV

by Derek Brewlander | July 6th, 2012

Fisherman’s Sunrise Saison is a 6.5ABV Belgian style summer ale brewed with strawberries and rhubarb. This farmhouse ale is of an amber/brown color and is poured with a minimal head that quickly dissipates all together due to the typically light carbonation of this specific type of beer. It has a very pleasant aroma of strawberries, wheat, and malts, with no hint of hops. The taste is a little sweeter than most saisons, but in a good way. You really get the sweetness of the malts and the distinct strawberry flavor right of the bat, followed by some earthy Belgian spices and rhubarb, with a smooth and slightly tart finish. Sunrise is a medium to light bodied beer with very light carbonation which is pretty standard for most saisons/farmhouse ales. Personally, I don’t typically drink an abundance of saisons(the light carbonation and lack of hoppiness is tough for me!), but I found this particular one very refreshing and enjoyable. While I wouldn’t be able to drink a lot of them in a sitting, the Fisherman’s Sunrise Saison has a great fruity flavor to it that isn’t overbearing and that makes it a great six pack to enjoy on warm summer night. Cheers!
