Brooklyn Lager - Brooklyn Ny - 5.2%ABV

by Derek Brewlander | August 2nd, 2012

Brooklyn Lager by Brooklyn Brewery (guess where it’s brewed!) is a 5.2 ABV American amber lager that typically is sold in 6 packs or served on tap at local pubs. The pour is a clear light amber/copper color with about a one finger foam head and has very good lacing. It has an herbal, floral-resiny aroma with a sweet malt base and hints of toasty bread. The taste is very clean, smooth and enjoyable. It has a great base of sweet malts with notes of toasted bread and a tiny bit of citrus, which is balanced out perfectly with a slight hoppy bitterness at the end and has a great dry and smooth finish. I must say that this is not your typical boring everyday lager. It is surprisingly complex, has great flavor, and being fairly light bodied, it is very easy and enjoyable to drink - whether it’s just one or two, or an epic all night endeavor. Even though this beer is from our archrival state of evil New York, I can’t help but admit that it is one of my all time favorite American ambers. If you haven’t tried a Brooklyn Lager yet, get on down to Depot Liquors and grab a 6 pack….you won’t regret it. Cheers!
