Victory Beer
Festbier - DOWNINGTOWN PA - 5.6%ABV

Victory Brewing Company, out of Downingtown Pennsylvania, has created some great beers over its tenure (I LOVE Golden Monkey!), and the Festbier Oktoberfest impresses just as much as the rest of their lineup. To start, it pours a nice clear dark orange/copper color with a solid finger froth head and average lacing. It looks excellent when held up in a light. It has a very earthy/grainy aroma, you get a lot of barley and grains/bready aromas, with a little bit of caramel and a touch of some hops as well. I find the taste to be outstanding, especially because it tastes so authentically German which is exactly what you want in an Oktoberfest. The flavor is full of toasty grains, Munich barley and some great malty flavors. You also get a slight lingering hit of bitter hoppiness with the finish as well as some nice caramel and toffee flavors in the background – all of which combine to give the Festbier an extremely delicious flavor. The beer itself is medium bodied, with good carbonation, a dry finish and VERY smooth and drinkable. Overall, I absolutely loved this beer. I know it’s still summer and I am loving this warm weather, but just drinking this beer made me yearn for fall (yes I used the word “yearn” in a beer review, that could be a first). Victory does an outstanding job of making Festbier taste like an authentic German Oktoberfest brew, and being that the fall beers are coming in earlier and earlier, I recommend that the Festbier be one of the first fall beers you pick up…..seriously come down to Depot Liquors and grab a 6 pack, you don’t want to miss out on this one. Cheers!
